Thank you for the excellent work you did for us. I really appreciated your research and production of the report ‘Approaches to Partnership in International NGOs’ which you undertook for Bond as part of the background research and ideas development for our flagship Bond Effectiveness Programme with UK NGOs working in international development. Quite apart from the high quality and thorough nature of the work you undertook, you were able to do it in such a way which sensitively addressed and opened up weaknesses which can be difficult to do.
Nick Roseveare, Former CEO, BOND
Hafton provided extremely valuable external consultancy support to the British Red Cross International Division Review, involving a comprehensive “fit for purpose” review of our international organisational structures and ways of working. Hafton played a key role on the project team, providing independent advice and expertise on change management and, in particular, staff engagement.
David Peppiatt, International Director, British Red Cross
Very many thanks for last week, we achieved so much more than I expected and your facilitation was fantastic.
Jacquie Heany, Former Director of OD and People, CAFOD
We engaged Anna to carry out a comprehensive review of our global HR function. The objective was to assess the function’s strengths and weaknesses and to determine the strategic direction it should take. Anna was an excellent choice. She engaged well with participants at all levels of the organisation, quickly gaining their trust and confidence. She identified the major strategic and operational issues clearly, procured a comprehensive set of recommendations and helped us to start implementation. We would recommend Anna wholeheartedly, in addition to her significant skills she was also an absolute pleasure to work with.
Jim Hynes, Former Chief Operating Officer, Concern Worldwide
Anna managed to complete not just the review, but a People in Aid employee survey and a salary benchmarking exercise within an incredibly short space of time. She produced a clear and concise report for the Board of Trustees with workable recommendations.
Both staff and trustees were comfortable sharing confidential information with Anna which illustrates her integrity and strong people skills.
Saleh Saeed, Chief Executive Officer, Disasters Emergency Committee
I would describe their work as excellent and delivered well within the agreed deadlines. Anna is an excellent confidant who is personable and able to get beneath a complex organisation and come up with great solutions.
Jane Waterman, Former Executive Director and Senior Vice President Europe, International Rescue Committee
We were looking for an experienced HR consultancy provider in the international NGO sector at a time when we were putting together the building blocks of the HR function. Hafton developed a competency framework and a job evaluation tool completely tailored to our organisation. What we really liked about it was the plain language in the tools which were easily understood from Director through to national local staff.
After more than five years and having scaled up in multiple countries and with more than 800 employees, both tools are still current and constitute the backbone for many of the HR policies and processes.
Elizabeth Boonan-Salgado, Former HR Director, Malaria Consortium
Your knowledge on the subject coupled with your calm nature proved invaluable to the team. We all left the workshop feeling we had something concrete to work with and since then have followed up on this with good results. Thanks again and I look forward to working with you in the future.
Katherine Galliano, Former Head of HR, Medecins sans Frontieres
Thanks for all your work in helping Pact Sudan think through how to improve its staff retention. It was good that so many staff were able to contribute to your research through the questionnaire and the staff meetings in the Juba and field offices. The senior management team are really pleased with your report, its clear analysis and outcomes and we have already started to implement your recommendations.
Judy McCullum, Former Country Director, Pact Sudan
Anna and Lilian of Hafton Consultancy worked with the Rift Valley Institute to design and roll-out a job evaluation scheme. As a growing organisation, working across multiple geographies, this was a crucial piece of work to strengthen the Institute’s job grading and recruitment processes. Clarity and transparency were important for staff confidence in the work and its outcomes. In carrying out the work, Anna developed a close working relationship with senior managers, and trained a newly constituted job evaluation team, therefore strengthening the Institute’s human resources management capacity at the same time. The tools she produced and recommendations she made will be incorporated into the staff handbook. We found Anna and Lilian’s insights and advice invaluable and are sure to draw on their expertise again.
Mark Bradbury, Executive Director, Rift Valley Institute
As the Director of Finance & Resources with responsibility for human resources, I have found the Hafton team to be approachable, very capable of identifying and solving HR problems across the group, able to access local HR expertise in country when needed, and crucially to provide me with the confidence, and professional oversight that I need to make good HR decisions. The added bonus is having Kate, who provides excellent HR admin support from managing our recruitment inbox, arranging interviews through to managing our HR database. For a small, yet complex international organisation such as SolarAid, Hafton provides the ideal HR solution. I recommend their service.
Stuart Ryland, Director of Finance and Resources, SolarAid
THANK YOU for everything you did to make our 3-year planning weekend such a great success. Your input was invaluable and much appreciated throughout the group. Pulling together a range of perspectives and helping us create a coherent, impactful and actionable plan out of it was no mean feat. I do not know how we would have fared without your wise, gentle yet firm leadership and imaginative ways of getting us to define and articulate our hopes and plans.
Mark Sheard, former Chair of Trustees, Uganda Development Services
